There should be a warning attached to this book: disturbing imagery/ not for the faint of heart, or something.
Joking aside, I really think this is a very interesting book. I mean its about time someone shone the light on this extravagant fashion craze that’s sweeping the region with all those crazy fads and uber-expensive styles. I think I’m getting this book.
I’me wondering, though, whether this is an insider’s, or an outsider’s look at fashion in Kuwait. I mean, she says that she feels more at home here (wherever she was during the interview) than in Kuwait. Does her mixing of cultures give her an advantage when studying the Kuwaity society? would it be different if this book was written by a Kuwaiti living in Kuwait (or even by a total outsider who’s never lived in Kuwait)?
Damn the girl had a messed up childhood. She talks about the country as if everyone had the same experience as herself.
PS I have yet to meet a person who places a teddy bear in their hijab. I consider my self lucky ;p
Wonderful way for fight your freedom; aesthetics and Pâté !
