Seems love has gotten very narcissistic? Only when “we feel like it”? Perhaps it explans a lot of why no one seems to stay together anymore? IMHO, love isn’t all about “you” and what you feel but how you make your partner feel. If he/she feels loved, so will you.
Why is it easier to express our love to others and be unable to say it to our closest blood relatives? I don’t know. I suppose it is how one is raised and how the parents expressed their love to the child and to one another.
I say it to everyone and anyone I truly love in my circle of friends, to my guy, as often as I feel it, whether or not they take it (or me) for granted. It’s too much added stress to play that whole game of does-he-or-doesn’t-he-love-me-back.
I love my father so much; I love him when I speak to him; look at his features, appreciate his being, his thoughts, his history, his weaknesses and strengths. I love him in my thoughts
I am another one who doesn’t say it either; I believe it is mostly because I don’t know if saying it will do anything aslan! I think I prefer actions to words. That’s my reason.
The results make all the sense in the world to me.
Does saying I love you have to result in anything? If a parent is not used to hearing it, then it might cause them to feel happy feelings even if they don’t show it.
I find it hard to say those three words! Even to my parents! I am getting better at it though hehehe! I think it should be said when you ONLY REALLY mean it for that if you say it a lot or daily its meaningless! Willa???
I think one can never really get enough of sharing love and saying I love you ,,,, but sometimes we need to get past the emotional barriers that stop us from expressing our love

That’s a good point Christina. You’re saying the more one says I love you, the closer the bond to your loved one.
Some people think if they say I love you too much, then the other person takes them for granted or it just doesn’t mean anything anymore.
Christina, I totally agree with you, when you say I love you, you make your partner feel loved.. and that’s what matters the most..
Your partner matters the most because you love her/him and want the person to know how you feel about them.
But what about people who say, yes we love the person but saying it too much makes it meaningless?
I love & respect my father. I don’t remember ever saying “I love you” to him. I feel self conscious to say it even though I feel it.
