Unbroken Silences January 21, 2009

I’m sick. It’s the third bad cold I’ve gotten within a month and a half. I’ve always thought I was as robust as a horse but I’m buckling at the knees this season. Overworked. Stressed. Sure I am happy but my immunity is low for some odd reason. I read last night about the Black Plague in the news yesterday..and I woke up with a worst chest cold than I went to bed with. I should perhaps try Making Love in the Kitchen: Gingerly Healing.
The wonders of ginger.
I bought some looseleaf Saudi mint tea recently. When some overseas guests became enamored with it, I was delighted to give them the brand new container. It’s a special restorative mint.
Perhaps all we need is a long week of rain. Non-stop drizzle. Heavy downpours. Thunder clapping. Rumbling. As beautiful as our weather is these days, we are in desperate need of a good wash down.
It’s not long now, before January is over. Everyone is silent in turns. Your silence is the one I am least complacent about. Emotionally. I enjoy the quiet as I lay here on my bed, recovering. But I feel you peak in, every now and then to check up on me. And your silence more than anything, makes me lift my head and form the unasked question as I fall back into my sick delirium.
Haha.
I hope you get well soon. Being overworked and stressed out have a bad effect on your immune system. I tried drinking ginger too. I like the effects afterwards, it’s like you can breathe easily.

Unfortunately I had to work all day, so I was deprived of taking part in one of the world’s most important parts of history. I missed the enitre presidential inauguration experience.
But who cares! Change is here!

You need some chicken soup with lots of garlic in it and fresh veggies. Park yourself somewhere comfortable and covered with blankets until this thing leaves your house for good.
No colds here but I slipped off of the next to last step going into the basement on the 2nd and broke my foot. I still have another week or two on crutches and I am bored to tears. Ice and snow outside are not a good mix with crutches so here I am stuck inside. AHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Yummy..you’re right. Chicken soup is good.
The weather has been quite cold in Kuwait this winter which is fine with me but we have had no rain at all. So many people are getting the flu and other kinds of horrid viruses and they’re spreading from one person to another. I usually get one cold and that’s it. This is a record.

2- i feel for you… the last one I had a month ago was a new , funky and tougher than any of past ones… it took 1 week… with medicine of course.
3- lots of liquid and lots of tv and dvd’s ….. reading is hard when your sick.
4- change your pj’s as often as you can
5- on the bright sight you have a rest without guilt .
6- I loved the post specially the last part and the reference to a horse of course of course

I took a flu shot for the first time this year. It seems to have worked. Like you, I take care of myself for a few days and then get thoroughly bored and disgusted with feeling BAD.
I hope you get well soon. The great thing about ginger tea, about chicken soup, about all these things that are good for you (I like miso soup!) is that they taste good, they taste nourishing, and they help your body fight off the illness.
