{Setting: A group of ladies at a gathering snacking on mixed nuts, chatting and watching TV. Listening to one conversation, while keeping track of another on another side of the room.}
A stout woman exclaims: Here it is! Here she is! The song I told you about.
Istaghfarallah where is the song?! She is just talking and writhing!
It’s just a show. She’s showing off her body.
{Laughs from a far end of the room}
{The sound of “chak chak” on the mixed nuts gets louder as mouths work faster, all eyes fixed on Mazzika screen}
What’s this? Istaghfarallah!
Haha, leave it! It’s a sight for sore eyes!
Oh! Just listen to her. If a woman says she is a sight for sore eyes, what do you think happens to men when they watch her??
What? I would watch and let him watch with me. It’s only a song for God’s sake. And she is beautiful to look at.
Harrump! She’s fake!
Yes, fake. She’s all put together. All beauty operations. She’s not natural.
{Shoulders shrug, more vigorous eating of nuts, mouths are salty and dry, and salivate more, and eyes are on the screen and on the door, lest any of their husbands come through}
Oweee…I’ve just finished praying, and I come to this.
{Pretty soon she is singing…Mat oulshi lhad! La la!}
Ah, she is beautiful.
Sure, she is gorgeous.
Look at those outfits.
Ha, lets change the channel.
No, lets enjoy ourselves; lets give our eyes a break.
Who are those guys dancing with her? They look stupefied.
Of course! Look at what she is wearing my dear!
Oh, I love her purple outfit. I’m going to make one just like it!
Haha, you! Look at your body and look at hers! Hahaha
Outfits! Those are negligees! Baby dolls she is dancing in…
Disgusting.
Aah, I’d love to be sitting in that champagne glass like her and bathing.
Haha, ya and have it crack the moment you sit in it.
{They all watch till the end of the song, till the last credits are finished}
Haifa Wahby’s song: Matoulshi lhad (Don’t Tell Anyone)

looooooooooooool it always the same things said and for the same reasons.
I find it hilarious, and the video clip is HOT!
========================
It reminds me of the time there was that scandalous belly dancing competition on LBC (?) on Thursday nights.
One woman called her hubby up at the chalet (who was on a stag outing) and asked him what they were watching on TV at the time.
I trust that he had the common sense to say they were watching AlJazeera news
Jewaira
Surgically put together or not, she’s gorgeous. Except for her lips.
It’s always amusing to watch how people continue watching something ’scandalous’ even though they have the option not to.
=========================
You know that interests me too. If something is scandalous, people will read, watch or listen - be satisfied - and then hate it.

Haifa Wahby’s song: Matoulshi lhad (Don’t Tell Anyone)
Its nice music nice songs I like Haifa Wahbi’s voice and especially I love the dysphonic (ba7ah) in her voice. WoW it’s so nice.
Any singer woman wants to be stars and to be famous she should have three things.
1-Beautiful face
2- beautiful body
3 Characteristic in her voices.
Haifa has totaled all of these things. She has incredible voice; I love to hear her voice. I don’t know why the people impeach in her talent, she is superstar.
Abdul7alem Hafth when he starts singing the populace meets him by Tomato and Eggs. All the imperial people start with objections and Haifa Wahbi on of the imperial stars. I think the problem because there is different in the tasteful.
Note: In the beginning of my post I was thinking to attack Haifa but after I finished my post I find my self supported her. (I don’t know what happen for my keyboard !!!!!).
========================================
Hatem,
You have proved yourself to be an avid Haifa supporter…don’t blame you
But you should not compare her to AbulHaleem Hafez.
Shattan farq. Haifa is more of a visual treat than one that enriches the spirit.

I don’t like Lebanese artists. They all look the same and they lack personality depth. I suppose they’re fun to watch if you’re into feasting your eyes on cheap seduction but nothing creative or with substance.
================
Sigh, Sushi
There is very little creativity going on these days with the “fast food” junk music that we are exposed to; it is mainly visual seduction as you so aptly put it and will not be remembered for any length of time afterwards.
Jewaira
Jewaira, that was beautiful and certainly not scandalous by American standards. She is a beautiful young woman, and she has a beautiful voice. Artists always push societal boundaries in order to gain attention and create higher sales; thus, the boundaries are constantly changing. I am reminded that Americans seem to have thought Marilyn Monroe was scandalous in her “Happy Birthday” song to President Kennedy, but now it seems like such a beautiful, playful song.
==========================
It all depends on how you look at it. As far as it being classic everlasting art, that is negotiable. But for moments of fleeting pleasure, why not
J
this song is BS, even according to the current [deteriorating] standards of Arabic music. The music & lyrics are senseless… but at the end it’s the flesh that people care about.
Seriously, why would someone LISTEN to this song, if it wasn’t for the video clip!?
Anyway, the ‘peep show’ bit reminded me of Madonna’s ‘open your heart’:

I like your creativity, I almost heard the nuts cracking.
==============================
Hi iDip
Heheh, I’ve always enjoyed watching and listening to Madonna and you are right…the idea of a peep show is the same.
But Haifa is more of a femme fatale type
Jewaira
Haifa Wahby is one of those singers that deserve to be watched, not to listen to. Although, I would say the beat in this song is kinda nice.
==============================

She is certainly pleasing to look at
J
LMAO hilariously double standard eh?
=====================

That’s why it’s fun sometimes to just sit back and observe people
J
excuse my french (i.e. BS), I think I over-reacted
=======================
Hehe,
some women make men do wicked things lol
Jewaira
This one seems to be making waves in the wider world:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/7376167.stm
I do wish i understood the language though. I’m sadly geeky enough to think that the camera work for the video was exceptionally good.
==================================
Hehe yes I saw that but not on the BBC lol
You don’t need to understand the language, Stephen… only body language
I’ll try to get you a translation
J
Thank you my dear Jewaira,
Through my travels on the web I’m coming to realise how great a liability lack of language skills can be. I believe in being able to be polite wherever I go, but this goes beyond the basics. I would venture the opinion that the quickest way to stir up publicity in all the right places is to get banned…
