We Want a Pink Government too! April 17, 2008

Too pink?

According to The Times, Silvio Berlusconi, Italy’s new Prime Minister   “……….told a radio station: ‘Zapatero has formed a government that is too pink, something that we cannot do in Italy because there is a prevalence of men in politics and it isn’t easy to find women who are qualified.’ “

(Sounds familiar doesn’t it and something typical of men regardless of how jokey they may want to sound!)

Now Spain’s Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero has created a female dominated cabinet. Out of 17 positions, nine were assigned to females and they are all demanding positions. Most intriguing is the position of Minister of Defense assigned to Carme Chacon, 37 and 7 months pregnant! The youngest minister is Bibiana Aido; 31, who heads the Equality Ministry.

I think it’s high time we turn to younger, more educated politicians and preferably to qualified women. Let’s give women a chance they need in the coming May 17th elections in Kuwait. Support women and make a difference.

I’ve always felt that to fix Kuwait up, letting in fresh new blood and women into pivotal seats in government would be the answer.

That’s a refreshing male outlook :)

I tried posting a comment here yesterday, but kept saying I am posting too fast, stupid wordpress.

anyways,

What happens in Europe cannot be extrapolated to Kuwait. While I am not an advocate of having women in leading political posts, or even top executive jobs, in Kuwait we have a handful and a footful only of women who are capable of leading, and those women are too smart to be involved in politics, so any woman who decides to enter politics is dillusional, and so are their supporters.

I do not vote, nor do I believe in voting, but if I ever decide to vote for a woman, it would be because of her curves rather than her brains.

It was a pink conspiracy :P

First of all, how do you know we have a handful and a footful? Have you done a survey? Am sure there are many qualified women that are not given a chance.

With regards to being too smart to be involved in politics, I think we need more than just smart.

We need proactive, charismatic, forward thinking, selfless, people in government now to shake things up and put things in order again. We need people with visions and with ideas, not afraid to take chances.

I look at most of the men running for parliament and all I can think of is : Is this the best the country has to offer?

They can’t do any worse then some of these idiots already.. they probably shake things up… that would be really good…

there can be some damage that it will take some adjustment for them to get things going so there will be a delay with a lot of work.. but hopefully who ever they put in charge has clear ethics and a need to improve things! Get our government to work more then three hours a day!

hehehe I like your attitude :)
