Tattoo Me December 13, 2006

I was recently surprised to see an advertisement for the Asia Centre salon in the classified ad paper Al-Waseet . The Asia Centre salon is located in Salmiya, and specializes in tatouage or body tattoos.

In the ad it says they had a special tattoo artist who also did eyebrows, kohl, and lip tattoos with a note that these do not turn green. The body tattoo photos include one of the rabbit Thumper (refer to Walt Disney’s Bambi); tigers, lions, horses, tarantulas, dragons, eagles, butterflies and last but not least, a devilish face with Satanic horns.

Now, I have always thought that permanent body tattooing was haram in Islam and that this practice is not encouraged in Kuwait. Is there a local trend for body art?

Coincidentally, I saw this photo this morning and it reminded me of the ad: Jolie’s Tattoos – Bedtime Reading for Brad?

I personally do not find Jolie’s back very erotic and not sexually appealing. To me, a tattoo should be so beautiful that you want to stretch out your hand and touch it. Perhaps she did not intend it to be so. Perhaps she is using her body to send a message (or as a bulletin board).

I dislike the majority of body tattoos but there are some discrete and elegant designs which when placed in certain body locations, may enhance the beauty of a woman’s body – in other words, it can look sassy and sexy. Although I have not found the perfect example, here are some photos I found on Flickr of nice henna body tattoos.

Pretty Henna Belly Motif

Golden Belly dancer spinning : A small tattoo on the waist is sometimes alluring although this one is quite simple.

Beautifully designed and manicured hands Elegant bridal

Stylish back tattoo (bit too big though) Lotus Back

A Cool Tattoo This one is sexy.

And of course the Hennaed Pregnant Belly : Bellissima!

Please link to your tattooed body part if you have one! ;)

In the beginning I thought Angelina’s tattoos were sexy but now its just too much. I think some tattoos are really cool looking and can remain like that for a while. You something that will last because its sort of like a long term commitment.

Its interesting to see who have tattoos and its surprising to see who do have in Kuwait.

I dont know how they justify eye brow tattoos and things like that but its considered different then normal tattoos. Since they say one is haraam and the other isnt. Im not sure really on this part.

But like you I do like seeing a tattoo in the right spot.

The Henna Belly Motif is a cool location but design isnt to my tastes really. The Belly Dancer’s tattoo is great! I really like it. I never liked Henna on the hands, it always makes me think that they are wearing a glve or something! The lotus isnt my thing either! The cool tattoo is just funny! And the last one isnt to my liking at all!

Sorry for the long comment! hehehe

Ok Marzouq. Now show us yours :P

3. Mystique - December 13, 2006

Since I was around 20, I’ve always fantasized about having one, but where I didn’t know!
Two years ago I was so determined to do it, and actually I did ! I have a tattoo on my left leg just above my ankle (the design of an Arrow -like my star sign-), and honestly I love it. It looks amazing with those famous ‘n fabulous sandals and shoes ;) and it’s very chic and classy ;)
I remember when my other half saw it for the first time, he bent down and kissed it :)

I hate henna! it’s too much. When I was in Casablanca’s airport this summer, I was stunned to see that almost everyone had Henna designs in some part of their bodies. Personally, I really dislike it.

OMG the belly mother henna is SOOO cute!!!! The other tattoos weren’t really my taste.

Back here in Jeddah, you rarely find anyone who has a tattoo.. a tattoo is a taboo!

Oh about the lipliner tattoo, I’ll tell you that, I tried it too, and my skin never absorbed the pink ink of the tattoo, I paid 400Euros for nothing and it is so painful.
I’ve seen women with amazing lipliner tattoos (but they did it in Europe) it is so light and just right, it doesn’t look all fake and reddish, because they actually study for more than two years how to make it as natural as possible while it serves the purpose of filling the lips lightly.

(I think this is the longest comment I’ve ever written on your blog)

P.S. My Oh My I loved Kim’s lingerie pictures ;)

Cheers!

4. Marzouq - December 13, 2006

I dont have one! It would be suicide! hehehehe!

I find them interesting but I cant commit one to myself. Its just never meant to be!

I like how you saw everything I wrote and it makes you think that I have one! loooool! :)

5. PseudoRandom - December 13, 2006

Getting a tattoo on the lower back seems to be a popular trend these days.

A Very Erotic Tattoo

6. Hope - December 13, 2006

I was never into tattoos. I love piercings though.. :D

7. Purgatory - December 13, 2006

Hmmm, I am not into that, but would not mind having you as one ;)

8. Fons Moonen - December 13, 2006

Such a nice back from miss Jolie. But now…? It looks like a post - paid package. And the other one:A Cool tattoo, will give me some idea I better read the paper instead of making love.
No tattoo for me baby, only fresh an naturel…well,… if I think about it , perhaps a little arrow above the ankle,…give me some time to think it over!

9. Ms.Baker - December 13, 2006

Oh! That preganant belly was sublime :) May I one day have a belly that enormously pregnant to henna too !

“Emancipate yourself from mental slavery” is a lyric from Bob Marley’s “Redemption song” ( I used to be a big Bob fan, and still am).

…And that bride was absolutely glowingly beautiful.

I think Angelina Jolie is very beautiful, but I would never have a tatoo or piercing done anywhere on my body (although I do have double pierced ears - the first done when I was a few days old as they did to most baby girls back then, the second done on a dare with my friends as a teenager here in Kuwait, at a makeup place in Zahra complex. I seem to remember it was called “I” cosmetics… ;)

Mystique
Loved your comment :) And thanks for sharing all the info.
Wow..your tattoo sounds very eye-catching….and sexy.
I agree with you about henna. It may look nice in the beginning but unfortunately it does not look too appealing as it begins to fade.

And yes! I couldn’t resist linking to Kim’s lingerie photos… ;)

Marzouq
don’t worry I just like to tease. You know you are a biker boy and I was sure you had a tattoo on your muscular biceps with the name of your girl or something :P

Pseudo Random
Could you redo that link, please - it does not seem to work for me.

Hope
So…we shall discuss piercings in a future post and you may want to share your experience ;)

Purgatory

So does that mean you want me to be your tattoo? :P Imagine you with a Jewaira tattooed across your back !

Fons
Hahaha… so you don’t want to read a back-side bed time story like Brad Pitt then?

MsBaker
Oh thank you for that bit of info on the Bob Marley song. See what one can learn from blogging!!!
I hope you will one day have a hennaed belly too!
And in addition to double pierced ears, I did consider a pierced nose at one point in my infatuation with India phase.

11. Intlxpatr - December 13, 2006

Lady J -
I think you need one on YOUR bicep saying “Born to raise hell”

(Ho ho ho ho - jk)

12. PseudoRandom - December 13, 2006

18. Purgatory - December 13, 2006

19. PseudoRandom - December 13, 2006

You 2 sound like real-life buddies, actually more than just buddies :P

20. jewaira - December 13, 2006

Oh dear! There you go again, Purgatory! I will absolutely not show you my tattoo :P

PseudoRandom
It is simply blogger banter…Purgatory is a fellow lion and you know how lionesses like to take control of everything ;)
So I take it you’re not into tattoos either?

21. PseudoRandom - December 13, 2006

Women in general like to take control of everything ;)

Not really into tattoos either. I’m kinda boring.

22. Marzouq - December 14, 2006

Your right about the biker boy part! hehehe! The tattoo is something I would do in another life! hehehehe! Right now, it isnt an option, but doesnt mean I havent thought about it! hehehe!

23. PseudoRandom - December 14, 2006

Are you dressed like biker gang members when you’re riding Marzouq?

24. shatteredbeginings - December 14, 2006

A long time reader, your randomness is always in some sort if direction…keep writing..
As for the tatoos, i would have to agree that some can look classy and attractive…but i wouldnt dare get one done!
It just looks god awful when your old and wrinkly, no matter who you are (Angelina)!

25. someguyfromplanet - December 14, 2006

I just wanna give a warning about being careful when you have a tatoo. Beware of HIV and AIDS, make sure the needle is clean and safe. Just becareful.

26. Warda - December 14, 2006

I considered getting a tattoo when i was a student in the states, instead i got a 5th ear piercing and my belly button, got my cousin to get her ear done as well and a friend to get the little extra bit (dont know what its called, not the lobe) done.

Eventually they all removed thier piercing and i had to get my belly one off due to infection, but to this day i want a little aquarius tattoo on hip bone and to re-do my belly. I wont do either cuz the hub-unit does not like such things….some men *sigh*

27. Gregorious - December 14, 2006

Tats………

Love tats myself, some are gross but the majority done today are artwork, depends on the person choosing it but majority as I said.

I have some myself, but not a digital camera so can’t share, I do know a geezah that has lucifers face in his ahem ahem region, the tongue goes down the length of his jon-thomas, said it was really painful and had to have it done in 3 sessions instead of the normal 1 (if it were elsewhere on your body) “It was painful? down there?” I asked with a wedge of sarcasm…………nutcase!

I’ve had a few peircings over the last few years too, but got bored with them and found shattering my teeth on metal or ripping a hole nipple might not be as good fun as it sounds………

28. jewaira - December 14, 2006

Shattered
Thank you for the comment. Your blog is intriguing and the template quite interesting.

SomeGuy
Absolutely right about the risk of HIV infection. Be very careful if your are considering tattoos or body piercings.
Thank you.

Warda
A pretty tattoo would do you very well now :)

Gregorious
My goodness! You sound like you’ve seen it all! ;)

29. PseudoRandom - December 14, 2006

Gregorious must be about 132 years old!

30. Imran - December 14, 2006

Tattoo ;)

31. Warda - December 15, 2006

On the belly, how about something in small txt that states ” if you can read this, head to the hospital…NOW!”

32. jewaira - December 15, 2006

PseudoRandom
Something odd about the number 132. Stop teasing now!

Imran
Hmmm, and yours?

Warda
Lol! I guess so!

33. PseudoRandom - December 15, 2006

What’s odd with it? It’s an even number.

34. jewaira - December 15, 2006

Very witty aren’t you? At least you made me smile.

35. PseudoRandom - December 16, 2006

Oh Thank You, I’ll take that as a compliment, of which you seem to be full of these days ;) .

36. Azrael - December 17, 2006

No not quite 132, close though Pseudo :)
