So far, five women have registered their candidacy for the upcoming parliamentary elections on June 29:
Rula Dashti
Aisha Al-Reshaid
Khaleda Al-Khader
Ghanima Al-Haider
Taiba Ibrahim
Al-Qabas expects a total of 28 women candidates from a projected total of 350.
“ Four of the five women candidates were waiting at the election department long before registration opened, before any male candidate arrived.” Khaleej Times Online
Seems like they were champing on the bit and couldn’t wait to register! That is wonderful.
We are watching very closely now.
Just Peel It May 26, 2006

This morning I applied a peel off mask to my face. Some of it got onto my eyebrows. I didn’t think much of it. When the mask had dried off, I started to peel it off slowly - at first.
But I must have left it on longer than usual, because it was really dry as I rolled it off my skin, making a arrr-whoo sound. I enjoyed the feeling of ripping it off my face. I became quite vigorous and yanked quite hard around my forehead area. To my dismay, I noticed a cluster of black eyebrow hairs stuck into the peeled mask and a very obvious gap on my brows!
Now I have lopsided eyebrows. I hope it won't take too long for them to grow back evenly again. Utter foolishness. Another story to tell at the Salon when Feiruz starts tut-tutting over the state of my eyebrows.
